Nine of the most famous museums and galleries are linking their collections together to provide access to a wealth of objects, designs, specimens, wildlife and paintings using social networking. People can share their ideas through text and video applications.
Contributions come from the British Museum, Imperial War Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Natural History Museum, Royal Armouries, Sir John Soane’s Museum, Tate, Victoria & Albert Museum and the Wallace Collection.
Over the past eleven months Jon has been directing, filming and editing 29 films, which will appear on the resource. Of course, all of this would not have been possible without the help of Michael Davies our trusty sound (boy) and camera assistant, the editing assistance of Mike Burton, Matthew Hart.
Each film tells the story of how the collections have inspired the individuals we have had the pleasure of filming. We have been lucky enough to meet some fascinating people and learn a huge amount about the collections ourselves along the way. Most of all we have been able to get up close and personal with some celebrity contributors such as the likes of Tony Robinson, Vivienne Westwood, Peter & Dan Snow, Ian Hislop, Nick Knight, Nick Baker, Goshka Macuga, Gerald Scarfe & Professor Robert Winston to find out what makes them tick.
Everything was shot using our new solid state Sony EX1 HD camera, recording onto disk and edited on Final Cut Pro. It was our first big tape-less production, and the workflow and ease of post production was a great success.
