Citizen UK is essentially an interactive game where kids create their own avatar and enter a world where they have various missions presented to them.

The avatars are challenged to create a better environment for themselves within a school, town, park and neighbourhood. Within the gameplay children are introduced to the ideas of problem solving, planning, voting and even financing their ideas. A tall order for 9 to 11 year olds it would seem, but within this resource we have documented and interviewed many of these young active citizens already making real change within their localities.

The resource was built as a flash application by our alliance partners 'Milo Creative'. All the video content was shot by ourselves over a 12 month period, by visiting over 30 existing projects initiated and run by young people all over Britain. As well as these documented projects we provided 4 workshops, one for each nation. These provided workshops, interactive voting sessions ('millionaire style') and film shows which gave the chance for the invited children to have a 'first look' of their relevant documentary. These events were filmed with 2 camera crews and all is streamed on the BBC Jam site.
