In past years, eight 12 to 14 year olds have been selected from thousands of volunteers to subject themselves to the extremes of a jungle, arctic or desert environment. This year another eight kids headed to the 'Serious Andes' in Equador, South America. Amongst their challenges they're building an enclosure for spectacled bears and climbing up a spectacular 6,000m mountain.

There were 2 sets of pacey titles commissioned by Marshall: the first programme features the trials and tribulations of the selection process and so the titles suggest something of the excitement and drama of the series while hiding faces; the other allows us to see the main protagonists of the show.

All design elements were built by Yugen Blake and much of the material was captured and then treated from a selection of rushes from the expedition. As in past years the pace is driven by the soundtrack while animated framing devices and box wipes switch between series highlights and specially shot portraiture of the kids.
